Ending?...

My last and final picture for the contest. Please vote when the time comes, this is the end.

I think this one is very evocative, on several levels. In the background, I see the death of a galaxy - the stars in the core have already gone supernova, in an expanding chain reaction that will soon enough reach the more peaceful looking edges. At the fore is the shattered hourglass and the breaking clock, with a little bit of sand still falling and the time not quite at midnight...which says to me that the system is breaking down maybe a little bit before it was actually supposed to. Inside the hourglass you have the classic Death figure, holding the woman almost comfortingly. With her colors - and, I suppose, the context - I think she's Life, now very old herself. And maybe, with the glass broken, she can get out and start anew, but you can't release Life without also freeing Death...
